What a year!!

This year have been a weird one. After some tries in other careers, I'm finally at second year of Sociology and up to now I like it a lot. The last term was very good because I passed all of my subjects with good grades so I was very happy until this semester. Now I'm very afraid because I think that the subjects are now more difficult and I just wish that I could pass all of them and have a nice vacations.

On the other hand, I have met a lot of people this year which have made me very happy, unfortunately I don't have so much time to go out with them but whenever we can we go to have some drinks.

Something that I didn't like was have to work the first semester. I worked all of the weekends and studied in the week and at some point I came to my breaking point and I had to quit.

But the thing that made more happy this year was visiting my big sister that lives in Spain, I hadn't seen her for 2 years and right now she's pregnant so it was a very special moment because we reunided all of the 4 brothers and sisters in Barcelona. We had some much fun, and I ate a lot, I can't wait to comeback!!

My niece is about to born and I'm really excited, this is gonna be some of the best things of this year and of my life, I really want to go back to Spain and meet the little Amelia :)

ART

I've always been interested in art. When I was a child I remember having a diary that had a Monet's motif and I really loved it. Then my big sister gave me another diary that had a lot of Miró's paintings which I tried to copy several times, unfourtantely I'm not a good painter.

I enjoy differents kinds of art, specially the seventh art, I always wanted to be a famous director and travel around the world making films. Another art that I enjoy is drama. I used to go to the drama's club in my school and I acted in a few plays and I even competed with two plays that I wrote.

Althought that I like art, I kind of hate going to the museums, I get bored and I just want to go out of there. I like more the art that is on the street, like graffitis. I have a good friend that make graffities and I have helped him with some of these. I think that he is very good at this.

I think that what is art is a very complicated question, because it depends of each one what is art. Personally, I think that the most beatiful art isn't in the museums where just few people go, I think the art is in every corner where is someone expressing him or herself so we can find art in places like traffic lights or the bus.

Such a green person

I consider myself as a very green person. I try everyday to recycle some things in my house like batteries and organic garbage. I turn off all the lights that are not been used even when I know that maybe that will not make any difference because I think that if we all try to do this things we will make a change.
Unfortunately, the earth is very damaged and it's probably because of the action of the big companies who are the biggest contaminants so while these main earth's contaminants don't change their environment politics for take care of the atmosphere, the earth will continue dying everyday.

I learnt a lot of tips for taking care of the planet when I was a scout in the school. I learnt how to clean the water without electronic devices and how to cook without electricity or gas. I also learnt to keep warm without a expensive and refined systems, just with ash. I know that it's very unlikely to keep warm in the year using ash but I try to do the rest of the things in the year whenever I can.

Because I live very far of the university I don't use the bike everyday because it will take a lot of time for arriving to the university, but I try to use the bike when I have to travel short distances like from my house to the supermarkert or to a park to do some exercise.

I really wish that Santiago will turn in a bike's city, where more people could ride a bike with good bike's roads so we could contaminate less and the people wouldn't have to use the Transantiago so we can also be more happy.

Dear friends :)

Helloooo,

Today I will talk about friends. No, no the TV show  "Friends" -which by the way I'm a huge fan- just regular human friends of mine.
The first thing that I would like to say it's that I really value in a friend the trust but most important yet: the humor. All my best friends are those that make me laugh really loud every time that I see them. I have concluted that the people that is more happy and funny are those that are more transparent and honest so I trust in every person that makes me laugh and this have never failed me.
I think that I'm a very good friend, maybe too much because I have made a lot of crazy things for my friends like travel far away or fight for them.
It's very difficult to me to choose a friend as a best friend, in fact it's been a lot of years since I stopped say somebody especifically that is my best friend because that lets out other people that is much important to me. Anyway, my best friends are those that I meet since the school, maybe because they know me for a long time and they saw me in all of my stages so we have more in comun that with other friends that I have met in the past years.
I hope to keep making friends all my life even when I get really old!!!

My future job

My dream job is a job where I could travel the all year and where I get pay for that so it would be definitely an outdoor job. I would like to eat a lot too, so if my job allow me I would work around the world tasting different kinds of food. Unfortunately, I'm not studying gastronomy or something related to the tourism, but dreaming is free...

I wouldn't like to work in a government office of for a big company because I think that in this places are recurrently corruption and I will not take part of it never. Maybe I will work in an university teaching or investigating but I haven't decided or thought that much already.

I like art a lot so I'm planing to continue my studies of sociology in that field or maybe get a major of culture's sociology which I like a lot too and maybe that will allow me to travel and studying around the world with another sociologists and anthropologists.

Another thing that I want to do when I get my major is work with artists like actors or dancers and make studies about them and how they look the life with a different glass, I would love it.

Well, I hope some day I could make my dreams come true!!!!!

Not a computer game fan

Everyone seems to love computer games, everyone but me. I don't hate computer games, don't get me wrong, in fact I used to play some games like Age of empire and The Sims. As you see, I have a very varied taste of computers games and I really enjoyed playing these games, but with the time I started to have less of free time and I just stoped playing this games because they were not my first choice about how to spend my little of free time.

Personally, I don't think that these games are a waste of time, we all have different hobbies and I think that no one should criticize the way that you spend your own time so I think it's okey if you want to play all day as long as you don't disconnect of the rest of the world.

Sayed that, I have to admit that I spend a lot of time in my laptop, I have to do group proyects and read texts for the university but the thing wich I have more fun is editing photos. I know that it's not a game but I really like it! I could spend hours and hours doing this, in fact there is some ocations that my friends ask me to edit photos for them.

But, even when I don't play computer games, I think that maybe this could change because now in September, The Sims 4 will be for sale and I think that this it's time to a reencouter with an old friend.....

The concert of my life

Hello everyone!!
Let me talk to you about the best concert that I've been. It is definitly the The Cure's concert of the last year in the Estadio Nacional in April 15th.

Since I was 14 years old I have liked this group of music and I always wanted to go to a concert of them. They started playing music a lot of years ago and in the 80's they came a famous group. I think is very difficult to say what kind of music they play, however,  people are used to say that they play gothic music but I don't agree that much. In all of this years they have never been in Chile and I was starting to lose all of the hope to go to watch they performing live when they decided to come to Chile.

I won the ticket to the concert in a competition of a brand of beer and I went with an old friend. The concert lasted more than 3 hours and is the longest concert that I've ever been. The atmosphere during the concert was magic, we were about 60 thousand people and we all singed all of the songs in the more than 3 hours, plus they finished the concert which one of my favorite songs so it was really memorable.

I can't wait to see them again, I hope they come back some day!!

Movies

Hello everyone again! Today I will talk about one of my favorite things: movies. The  first film that I enjoyed as a child was the movie "Bugs". I watched some movies before that one, but "Bugs" was the first that I remember to want to watch over and over again. This movie was about a  colony of ants that fight with some bigger bugs that wanted to eat all of their food. Until now I still watch this movie and every time that I see it, I find diferent messages in it.

I just love watching movies in my house but I think that nothing compares to the sound and the big screen of the cinema so even when is more expensive than watching movies in my own laptop, I like to go to the cinema whenever I can.

A recently film that I saw was "Noah" and is about the story of Noah's ark but with many other fantasy things and characters. Emma Watson stars in it, but however I think that she is a great actress, I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone because it was a slow and boring film.

But, however I watched some bad movies in the last days, I will continue looking for others that I could recommend you, so keep reading my blog ;) !

Music to my ears

Music is quiet important to me. I grow up listening and singing songs with my big sister and I remember that we used to act like if we were huge rock stars. I liked to play a little xylophone and my father taught me to play the guitar, unfortunately I forgot it very quickly.

I would define my music taste very peaceful but, in general, I like a lot of different kinds of music.  I like jazz a lot and one of my favorite singers is Nina Simone, she was very gifted and I admire her personality, or at least what I read about her.

However I feel that all the stuff related about music are very expensive I have to admit that I had spent a lot of money in concerts and CDs. The concerts are my guilty pleasure! I like to search the resale tickets. I would do anything to go to a concert of a group or a singer that I like.

If I were a song, I would like to be the Nina Simone’s song “Feeling Good” is a classic and I like that much that I named my blog after it.
I don’t have a lot of musical skills, I don’t play anything and I suck at singing. However I like to go to karaoke with my friends. You don’t need to sing very well if you just want to spend a great time!

So, in conclusion, I think that the world without music would be really boring.

My favourite piece of technology

If there's something you should now about me it's that I'm not very updated with the technology. In fact I don't even have a cellphone, I use one that is borrowed when I’m out of my house, but it doesn't have whatsapp or something like that.

So, think about my favorite piece of technology was very difficult, however I think that my digital camera is one of the things that I love the most and for me at least is very technological.

I got my Canon camera the last year and I had to save a lot of money for getting it. Is very sad, but now this camera is very cheap and I’m already thinking to get another one more professional. I use my camera very often but when I use it the most is at the familiar’s reunions. I have so many pictures with my family but I never print them, the photos are just in my computer. I really like taking pictures but I think that more important yet is enjoy the present so if some day I don’t have my camera ever again I wouldn’t die.

Pierre Bourdieu

Hi! as you know I'm studying sociology at the Universidad de Chile, and this year I discovered some experts that I didn't studied until know. So today I would like to talk about one in particular that I find very important.

Lately, I have been studying a very interesting sociologist and anthropologist, Pierre Bourdieu. Bourdieu was born in 1930 in France and died in 2002, just 12 years ago so he is very contemporaneous. He is recognized for his critical vision of the society. That's why I would like to talk about him. I I think that is one of the people that most contributed to the sociology in the last years.

His studies were based in the reproduction of the social's hierarchy and one of his most famous works is the book called "Distinction: A social critique  of the judgment of taste" were he developed a theory about the social stratification based and how the dominant class stand out by the aesthetic taste.

He also defined terminologies like social capital, cultural capital, field and habitus. This concepts are now very helpful to the sociology because are used in different subfields of the sociology, like the education, politic, economy and art.

So, as you can see, Bourdieu is very important for the sociology and I thought you should know a little about him. If you liked this little description of him you should read more of his work, I recommend "The reproduction" you will find it very interesting!

Today, I will talk about a very sad part of the history: the World War II. I have read a lot about the World War II, but I've watched more movies. Some of them are very romantic where many couples are divided because of the war for example, but others are very hard and show how cruel was the holocaust. I think that the most shocking aspect of this war was the amount of people that was murdered and how they were murdered. Just the fact of killing another human I found despicable but in this war was killed a big number of children too, so the least thing I think about this war is that it was totally heartless.

I think that no war is justified in any circumstance, the violence is not an option for me and for that reason I would never be willing to go to a war and put my life in risk and hurt other people.

I don’t know if the World War III will ever take place, but I just hope that the humanity have learned something and stop thinking that the violence is the way to put their interest above the others, because firstly they shouldn’t put their interest above the others.

Today, I'm going to tell you about a photo that I love. This photo was taken by my mother in Punucapa, Valdivia this year in February when were on vacations. This photo shows my family taking a walk in this city in a sunny day. I like a lot this photo because it reminds me a very good days of relaxing and spending some time with my family in a beautiful place in the south of Chile. Also, it has a special meaning to me because my grandparents used to lived in that city so we organized this trip so we can learn a little more of the origin of our family.

Expectations for a new semester

This semester I'm taking a few subjects from my career like Teoría Sociológica, Técnicas Cuantitativas, Historia Social de Chile and English, obviously. I really like Historia Social de Chile although I have to read a lot. Luckily I didn't have to take all the subjects of this academic period because I convalidated Economía from Bachillerato, so this semester is not as hard as the last one.
Unfortunately I don't have any time for extracurriculars because I also work babysitting kids. However, I'm trying to save some time to become a member of a Escuela Libre.
I expect from this new academic period to learn a lot and pass all of my subjects without getting stressed.

Autobiography

I was born on a spring day in October in 1992 in Santiago, Chile. My whole life I have lived in San Miguel with my parents and my big sister. I went to a kindergarten near home and I studied at Instituto Miguel León Prado, a school where I met some of my best friends and started to be a Scout, which I love. I also developed some of my hobbies in the school like volleyball and acting. After the school I studied Bachillerato for two years and I’m currently studying Sociology at Universidad de Chile. In my free time, I enjoy my free time traveling, eating and sleeping, but one of the things that I like the most is cooking but unfortunately I’m not very good at this.
